Dear Northside Prep Parent or Guardian,
Chicago Public Schools (CPS) takes the health and wellness of our community very seriously. While the district made the decision to have our students begin the 2020–21 school year learning from home, CPS also implemented health protocols at our schools and offices to protect those who need to enter our buildings for approved Chicago Public League Fall Sports. As your student participates for Northside College Prep, I’m writing to share the protocols you must follow prior to your student arriving.
First, parents or guardians must complete the CPS Daily HealthScreener for students prior to arrival each day their student will participate in any sport activity, practice or competition. The online screener is available from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
-
Go to www.cps.edu/healthscreener to complete the CPS Daily Health Screener the health screener. Based on your responses to questions about symptoms, recent travel, and possible exposure to anyone with COVID-19, the screener will let you know whether your child is allowed to enter the CPS building.
-
As the parent or guardian, you must complete the screener and perform the temperature check for students under 18. Please be aware that staff members will complete the screener and temperature check for students who arrive at the school without a parent or guardian.
Student-Athletes who have cleared the health screener, must pass a temperature check upon arrival.
-
Parents or guardians must complete the temperature check for children under 18. Staff members will complete the temperature check for students who arrive at school without a parent or guardian.
-
If your temperature is 100.4°F or higher, your student will be asked to leave the building. If the temperature is lower than 100.4°F, they will be allowed to participate.
All those who have cleared the health screener and temperature checks must adhere to the following health protocols at all times:
-
CPS Guidance for SY20-21 Chicago Public League Fall Sports
-
Wear a face covering. If you have an accommodation that exempts you from wearing a face covering, please provide the person who screens your temperature with documentation from your doctor.
-
Wash or sanitize your hands upon entering and exiting the facility.
-
Maintain social distancing (six feet of space between yourself and others).
-
If a student begins to not feel well, their parent or guardian will be notified and they will be taken to the care room until their parent arrives to pick up their child.
As a reminder, anyone who traveled to a state on Chicago’s Travel Quarantine list or internationally is required to quarantine for 14 days per Chicago Department of Public Health guidelines.
Your health and safety is important to us, and we thank you for doing your part to help keep our community healthy. If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Student Health and Wellness at oshw@cps.edu.
Sincerely,
Henry Henderson
